Can I paint my wall mounted gas heater with heat resistant paint?

We just bought a house and it has 2 of those big wall mounted gas heaters, but they are rusty in places and out like a sore thumb. We know we can take the grill off and paint the FA, but we're not sure the paint resistant to heat is safe for a hot water heater.
nettle which about i resistaint heat paint was done with acrylic paint and just, it is very good.
